William Carter, CR, CKBR, is First Vice President for the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). He has held other positions on the national level including 3rd vice president, treasurer and secretary, and membership vice chair. Carter was also Southwest Region 7 vice president for three years, and president and membership chair for his local, Greater Sacramento Valley Chapter. Carter has been involved with NARI since 1994.

Carter has worked in construction for more than 34 years and owns his own residential and commercial remodeling business, William Carter Company. He grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., before moving to Sacramento when he was 17. Carter graduated from Sacramento State University with a B.A. in organizational communication and a minor in Latin. Carter began working on houses in college, and earned his contractor’s license when he was 20.

Locally, he sits on the board of directors for the Society for the Blind in Sacramento, Calif., and has worked with the group since December 2006.

The William Carter Company won a 2007 Contractor of the Year award in the Entire House $500,001 to $1 million Category for a house remodel Carter accomplished in his free time.
