Robert J. Greer is President of The Michaels Development Company. He has over 35 years of diversified development experience. He was formerly Director of Development for the PA Housing Finance Agency, as well as Director of Planning for a major Philadelphia consulting firm, with responsibilities for planning, urban design and feasibility studies.

Mr. Greer received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and became a Certified Planner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shortly thereafter. He has been involved in the planning, design and implementation of housing development programs throughout his professional career.

He joined Michaels Development Company in 1978 as Vice President, assuming responsibility of the company’s affordable housing program formulation, including acquisition, design, municipal approvals and required debt and equity financing. Mr. Greer was appointed President in 1999, directing all of Michaels’ participation in the Housing Tax Credit Programs, Federal Home Loan Bank, Federal HOME Funds, primary/secondary financing, and tax exempt bond financing, including revitalization of 18 public housing sites through the HOPE VI program. They are currently expanding their portfolio to include Military Housing.

Michaels was formed in 1973, and has developed, owned and managed (through its affiliate, Interstate Realty Management Company) over 35,000 units in 27 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A leader in the industry, the company has built or rehabilitated more than $2.5 billion in affordable housing since its inception. Interstate provides marketing, maintenance, administrative, asset management and accounting services for over 230 properties. Michaels Development and Interstate Realty are nationally recognized developers of HOPE VI Mixed Finance Programs; and innovators of creative design and management solutions, receiving awards for development planning, social services programs and creative management style.

The Michaels Development Company is headquartered in Marlton, NJ, and currently has offices in Kansas City, MO; Chicago, IL; New Orleans, LA; Tulsa, OK ; Tampa, FL.

Mr. Greer is a member of the American Planning Association, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, and serves on the Board of the Directors of the Multifamily Executive Committees for the National Association of Homes Builders, the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association, and the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition.
