Bio: Tom Anderson,
CEO and Founder, PENSCO Trust Company
Tom Anderson
Tom Anderson received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, in 1966. He also attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers. From 1969-1981, Mr. Anderson worked at the largest bank in Connecticut and advanced through the ranks to Vice President in charge of all systems development and planning for the bank.

Mr. Anderson was recruited in 1981 by Bank of America in San Francisco to be Vice President & Director, part of a team of four top managers of the bank's $55 billion trust unit.

In 1987, Tom Anderson founded his own trust and bank consulting company called Financial Information Systems (FIS). He published an industry newsletter related to trust systems news, and offered consulting service to banks (back office automation analysis and improvement), and trust companies (system evaluation, selection, design, installation, strategic planning, etc.).

In 1989, he founded PENSCO Pension Services (now PENSCO, Inc. and PENSCO Trust Company), as an IRS approved "passive" non-bank custodian, and now a trust company, for self-directed retirement accounts. Mr. Anderson is a frequent speaker and author on the topic of self-directed IRAs and has hosted his own radio show called "Creative Ways to Maximize Your IRA". Mr. Anderson focuses his presentations on PENSCO's business of assisting clients who want to invest in real estate or private placements through their IRAs, and the mechanics and regulations affecting how these investments can be made.

As a recognized national expert and author on the topic of self-directed IRAs, Mr. Anderson has participated in articles found in Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Bottomline Financial, AARP Newsletter, Entrepreneur, Inc., On Wall Street, Time Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Power Lunch TV show and many others. He has also testified before the IRS and the Department of Labor on matters relative to IRAs. PENSCO Trust Company is now a trust company with over $2 billion dollars in assets under administration.
